One of the Most Apparent Symptoms of Sciatica Pain


Sciatica is a state in which a person experiences extreme pain in the lower back that goes all the way to the leg. It usually begins with a problem in the sciatica nerve, the largest nerve in the body.

The symptom that becomes the most evident is that of pain. Not only does it cause much discomfort, but also a feeling as if the area of the back and leg are on fire. A feeling of numbness may also be experienced especially in the thigh and leg which results in the person not being able to walk properly.

The position in which a person would experience the most pain is during sitting. While standing up he or she may feel a stab of pain in the leg. These reasons may account for the individual not being able to have leg and foot movements quite easily.

The areas to which the pain may reach depend to a great extent on which sciatic nerve has been damaged. This may also result in feeling weak and not having enough energy to perform daily functions that a person may engage in usually.

An individual who is going through sciatica pain will feel similar to having being pierced by a bunch of needles. However, the degree of the pain is different for each one. For some it may be so severe as to become difficult to bear, while for the rest it may arise occasionally.

It is quite common to experience pain in one buttock, and usually it gets worse with time if care is not taken to visit a doctor.

Moreover, not being able to control bladder or bowel movements is also associated with the condition of sciatica. In this case, it is advised to get treatment immediately. Thus, it is preferable to visit a doctor as soon as possible without delaying it, as the pain may become worse.
