Managing Gout Arthritis in a Natural Way!

Tiny lumps. Painful attacks.  Young people may not be familiar with this disease but it has caused trouble among susceptible individual. And that is gout arthritis.

Gout arthritis is a serious painful disease characterized by red, swollen joints. Commonly affected part is the big toe but it can also appear in other parts of the body primarily in the joints. It can affect joints of the hands and feet as well as in the shoulders, elbows and knee. Gout attacks are usually sudden, imitating the same pain as in arthritis. Sometimes, the painful attacks are accompanied with fever and chill because the affected part is tender and inflamed. Many found relief in non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, but it does not relieve the main problem.

Several causes can be attributed in developing gout arthritis, but the most common cause is the abnormal high levels of uric acid in the blood. As uric acid elevates, it tends to form crystals in between the joints particularly in the synovial fluid. These crystals accumulate and create a deposit in the joints. As the joints move, the deposited crystals make a friction like movement against the joints producing an excruciating pain. Pressure and tightening feeling can also be felt as the crystals add in the normal volume of the synovial fluid.

Gout arthritis is not a life threatening disease, but the pain that accompanies it makes it a distressing disease.  Treatment of gout is focused on managing the pain and preventing the attack. These can be achieved by controlling the level of uric acid in the blood as this is the main cause of gout. When uric acid level in the blood is elevated, the blood is acidic. At this time, the body needs to neutralize the level of pH in order to attain balance. Eating more alkaline food as well as drinking alkaline water would help in neutralizing the acids in the blood. The easiest and most popular way is by drinking alkaline water.

For those people who are suffering from gout arthritis, medications have brought side effects as all of these are chemically based. A more natural approach in controlling uric acid is through the things we put in our mouth, yes, in the things that we eat. Aside from following a low purine diet in order to lower down uric acid levels, one should also focus on the water they drink as it can also be determined if it is acidic or alkaline. Ideally, alkaline water is preferred because of its many health benefits especially in managing gout attacks. It also neutralizes the pH balance in our body as well as in the blood, keep in mind that the human body is composed of 75% water. Alkaline water can be bought from the store bottled, but there are also products that can be installed in order to produce alkaline water right in the comfort of your own home. Remember that in managing gout, the natural way is the best option; enjoy its benefits without the side effects.
